Overview: The Python Software Developer will work as part of a DoD research and development team to apply machine learning and Python application development for the identification of materials from instrumentation data output. Work will be performed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of a senior developer, use Python, machine learning skills, and other languages and tools (e.g., Qt5, C++, TensorFlow) to develop applications (front & back end) in an R&D environment. Develop scalable solutions to collect, store, analyze, and visualize instrumentation data. Develop, test, and maintain applications for developmental systems. Advance personal skills to take on more difficult problem solving and coding tasks.

Requirements:

Complete the STC application through our web site and answer the screening question regarding citizenship. U.S. Citizenship and ability to earn and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree and 3 years of Python coding proficiency with Flask or Django. Experience or coursework in machine learning. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to learn new skills quickly. Demonstrated ability to multitask and complete work within schedule.

Proficiency in one other object-oriented programming language e.g., C++, is a plus. Desired experience includes the use of R, SQL database query construction, Qt5, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
